APPLICATION & AUDITION INFORMATION

Entry into full-time or part-time courses is by audition in person. Selection is made on ability, physical facility and the potential for pursuing a career in musical theatre or dance. Applicants are advised to submit their applications ASAP, due to limited places available in each course.

To arrange an audition time or find out more information about the courses:
  • Complete the online application form.
  • Once received, the Administrator will notify you of the audition details.
  • Prepare for your audition following to the requirements set out below.
PRE-REQUISITES

Advanced Progam in Musical Theatre

Applicants must demonstrate:
  • Advanced level of singing ability
  • Basic dance experience
  • Acting skills are not essential, but advantageous
  • Minimum 18 years of age at the commencement of the course

Foundation Program in MUSICAL THEATRE

Applicants must demonstrate:
  • Foundation level of singing ability
  • Basic dance experience
  • Acting skills are not essential, but advantageous
  • Minimum 16 years of age at the commencement of the course
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
MUSICAL THEATRE
SONGS

Applicants will be required to sing two contrasting songs from the Musical Theatre repertoire, from memory. At least one of the songs selected must have been written prior to the 1980s. Max duration: 2 minutes per song. A pianist will be available, however, applicants may bring their own accompanist. No backing tracks, tapes or CDs. Sheet music in the correct key will be required. Applicants may or may not be required to sing the entire song. The audition panel may request applicants demonstrate scales / vocal exercises.

MONOLOGUE

Prepare and present from memory one contemporary, scripted, theatrical monologue (of your own choice). Max duration: 2 minutes.
DANCE

All applicants must demonstrate basic dance coordination skills. For the purpose of establishing full movement experience and potential, applicants may be required to attend a dance audition later in the day, after the initial audition.

INTERVIEW

All auditions are conducted privately and assessed by an audition panel. Interviews are conducted immediately after the presentation of songs, monologue and dance.

WHAT TO BRING OR WEAR:

Wear neat casual attire, and bring comfortable dance gear for dance audition. No baggy clothing, please.
